The Melways: How to navigate your way through life today.
You know, the first sign that something’s off is that feeling of being disconnected from yourself, lost, frustrated. It’s like you should be happy, but you’re not. You might be going through the motions, but you’re not truly living.
The Melways is different because it doesn’t offer a band-aid solution. It’s about reframing your perspective by steppingback, looking at your situation with fresh eyes, and understanding the “why” behind your experiences. So moving forward you can support yourself differently.
Navigational blindness starts with the patterns we create in life, often stemming from childhood. We’re so focused on people-pleasing and fitting in that we forget to listen to ourselves. We follow rules and ways of living that don’t feel right, and we don’t question them. The catalyst moment is when we realize we don’t know how to listen to ourselves properly.
The Melways helps you break through this dismissive pattern and truly hear your truth. It’s about understanding what’s happening for you and why it’s happening. It’s about finding clarity and empowerment.
Think of it like this: Imagine your life is a road. You’re driving along, and you hit a roadblock. You can’t just keep going. You have to stop, assess the situation, and figure out how to get around it. The Melways is like that divergence. It helps you understand how you got to that roadblock in the first place, so you can find a new path forward.
Workshop Highlights:
- Recognizing your patterns: Identifying the ways you’ve been abandoning yourself, whether it’s through people-pleasing, seeking external validation, or ignoring your own needs.
- Reframing your perspective: Shifting from blaming others or circumstances to understanding the “why” behind your actions and choices.
- Building self-awareness: Learning to listen to your inner voice, recognizing your emotions, and understanding your motivations.
- Taking responsibility: Embracing the power of choice and making decisions that align with your values and your true self.
- Creating a foundation for self-love: Building a strong sense of self-worth and acceptance, recognizing that you are worthy of love and happiness.
The Melways gives you the freedom to support yourself, your needs, in ways that you never thought possible. It’s about making choices for yourself, not waiting for someone else to fix things.
The impact is transformative.
You start to genuinely connect with yourself without judgment. Life starts to make sense. You want to hang out with yourself. You unconsciously start making changes, like setting boundaries, saying a guilt free “no” more often, and embracing your own well-being. You move from self-abandonment to self-love.
It’s about realizing that you are worthy of love and happiness, and that you have the power to create the life you want. It’s about honoring your truth, your uniqueness, and your story.
It’s not as hard as you think. It’s empowering, it’s fun, and it’s life-changing
Who Should Attend:
This workshop is for anyone interested in finding stronger ways to support themselves.
Particularly if you are:

“Answers in life don’t come unless we seek them out.”

What ‘The Melway’ Workshop is about.
The Melways Workshop
When your trust is shattered, when your life meets catastrophe, when your plans don’t come about, when nothing makes sense, when you’re waiting for the sign, when too many people have opinions in your life, when the next step is decided for you by someone else, when you are trapped in what your meant to do, where judgement is rife and you feel downright lost.
This is the way most of us have experience life. You get to the dead end. And this is when we pick ourselves up dust ourselves off and try to keep going.
We begin with all of the best intentions of supporting ourselves better. We promise ourselves we will keep our boundaries this time.
We wont get involved in the dramas. We vow to do what’s right by us and to look after ourselves better.
We start well, but when side roads, potholes, merging lanes or roadblocks come along we find it difficult to keep backing ourselves and fall back into the old familiar patterns where we no longer support ourselves the way we wanted to.
And then instead of working out why and what happened and getting us through it, we become angry and disappointed in ourselves and continue to sabotage ourselves all the more.
Which creates a very big distance from being able to love ourselves.
So I have come up with a solution.
I have thought about, worked hard and developed something very different, a unique way to look at why this happens and how to tackle this problem.
It’s my favourite way of The Mel Ways. I call it the ACE Way.
I am introducing ‘The ACE Way’ for the first time in this Workshop.
The ACE Way is a way of being able to support yourself that is simple, powerful and absolutely Life liberating.
And will ensure that you get to write your own Roadmap for your life.
The Mel Way’s are all about
Simplifying
Being able to step back and see the big picture,
To not be blocked by guilt, or get stuck in the layer of blame
To find the truth for you
To explore why
To understand why we get stuck
To reframe things to move forward, supporting ourselves.
Understand how and why we get lost, disconnected
Why we sabotage, abandon ourselves
To be able to support ourselves to really support ourselves.
Insightful, mind blowing, clever, fun, inspiring and life changing.
Reframing how we understand ourselves
From Mel
I love using analogies in my explanations, and have done so for as long as I can remember. For me its an easy way to connect an experience to a feeling, and I find explaining things this way works well for people. For years I have joked with my clients about following “The Mel Ways” which are the analogies that I have come up with as a guide for getting through life, and even at one point thought about naming my book that, yet the pun was only relevant to Melbournians.
Fast forward to many years later, when I came to name this workshop the fun of using this name returned, and even better it’s being run in Melbourne! So, it was the perfect choice.
But even more fun for me, was the fact that we could add in road analogies which are so easily relatable. I mean roadblocks and pot holes in our journeys through life!
We have all experienced them.
I am very proud and excited to be presenting this workshop, and even more excited to see how people go after completing it.

Testimonials from people that have Unpacked their stories with Mel
Mel Ryan is inspirational in helping people be their best selves and live their best lives. Mel delivers her insights in a simple and clear way. And then backs this up with thought-provoking questioning. I have had the pleasure of being a client of Mel’s for many years. During that time, I have had such incredible personal growth and would not be the confident, curious person I am today without having had access to her wisdom, simple lessons, and unique personable approach. I am so excited that Mel is now able to empower more people through her workshops. It’s about time

The journey over the last 18 months with Mel, learning to better understand why I am here and be truly happy and love myself has been an amazing experience. It is a work in progress and working through Mel’s guidance has really escalated and solidified so much of the learning. Taking the time to listen to yourself, work through your emotional reactions to situations, question what you do and identify what you are here to learn, helps to bring an inner peace each day. Thank you, Mel, once again you have given me tools to work through life, stay in the moment and enjoy the peace instead of the anxiety I started with 18 months ago.

” Alone does not mean you are lonely “ The phrase that has stuck with me as the most beautiful thing Mel has taught me. To know you are alone is not a scary thing instead it has brought me a sense of empowerment. Mel, challenged me on some beliefs and norms I had in a safe and comforting way. It has made me honestly and openly question a lot of my actions or lack of actions in my life and to truly be honest with myself. This workshop will be very powerful to those who are ready to be open and honest with themselves and to those that are always. wondering why?

How Mel Works
To Understand things we need to Unpack things.
Unpacking is the term I use to describe the way I work. It helps get to the bottom of things, or as I like to put it, the truth – our real truth – about a situation.
The tool I use to unpack things is the question “Why?”
I ask why it affects us, where did it come from, why do we keep it, and how we can support ourselves differently moving forward.
This process looks a little like this:
First, we discuss the situation – what it currently looks like and how it affects us in our life.
Next we recognize the depth to which we are stuck.
Then, we ask how and why did this happen?
We take a step behind the scenes and look at history, patterns, belief systems, and rules – where they come from and why they are there.
Most importantly, we look a little deeper at why we keep them. What is it that we need, or are looking for, that makes us stay unconsciously stuck? We explore the very core of our truth behind this.
This is the key to the magic of moving forward differently.
Here, we sit in a place where it’s just you, with the freedom to listen to your truth about how you really feel, why you react, the truth about why you are stuck, and what you thought you needed from others, to what you really need from yourself.
From this place, an understanding is born – an understanding of you and what you are working on.
From here, things begin to make sense. We become free.
This is where we move forward, with a greater understanding of ourselves and a fresh perspective on the situation.
