This concept: ‘Following the rules to lead us to happiness’ when you really stop and think about it is really just keeping everyone else happy. When we keep everyone else happy, we’re not focused on ourselves, we’re not present to what feels right for us and we go back to that pattern of dismissing what we need and what we want and what’s right for us. We don’t listen to ourselves.

Six Happiness Myths. Myth 4: The More Success you Have, the Happier you’ll Be.
Does success equal happiness? Or truthfully are we using success, and the ladder that comes with it, to not live? Should the statement ‘The more successful you are the happier you’ll be’, be changed to ‘The more I refer to the ladder of success the more I put myself down, hold myself back and genuinely struggle to feel good about myself unless I put someone else down.’ It’s a big statement, and it’s confronting.

When our trust gets broken we are left feeling shattered, alone and skeptical. Our ability to trust people and life becomes limited, our confidence wanes and we become pessimistic. We can hold ourselves back from new experiences and relationships. Consequently, this can reduce the opportunities we take to bring happiness into our lives.
