You know that feeling when you have gone through something and you just can’t make sense of it? When you’ve tried to process it, talk about it, work through it, but it still sits in you, unresolved? And because life teaches everyone to tell you to get over it, move on, get better. So, you pretend to. But you can’t truly let it go because there’s still this nagging feeling. It never made sense to you in the first place. 

That’s where trauma lives in us.

Not just in the big, life-shattering events. Yes, those events too. Although trauma is any experience you went through that you couldn’t unpack properly to the way it made sense to you. It’s the thing that happened that left you confused, disconnected, stuck. It’s that experience you keep carrying because you never got the answer to why it happened or what it means. And no matter how many times you try to heal “it”, process “it”, or get over “it”, “it” stays. Because it doesn’t make sense yet. 


I’ve been there. And I’ve sat with experiences I couldn’t make sense of. I’ve tried every traditional approach to understand them, process them, move past them. And I’ve watched hundreds of people come to me carrying that same weight…

Those experiences they can’t unpack.

The stories that don’t make sense.

And the trauma they can’t seem to heal from no matter what they try.

They’ve done the therapy. They’ve read the books. And they’ve tried the breathwork, meditation, and other healing modalities. And there’s still something missing. Because they’re still trying to make sense of their experiences from an earth perspective. And that perspective can’t give them the answers they need. 


That’s how this all started.

Through my own journey of trying to make sense of my life, I discovered that was one thing that shifted so much. Time and time again. It’s when you look at your experiences from your soul’s perspective that things finally change. Your soul’s perspective is when you understand why your soul wanted to experience them, what you were trying to learn, how they fit into the bigger picture of your life story, and how the experiences finally make sense within that bigger picture. And when your experiences make sense, they stop being trauma. They simply become part of your journey. You feel like they’re part of your learning. And that they’re just part of the story that makes you who you are. 


I created Unpack Your Life with Mel Ryan because I was watching people try to make sense of their experiences and heal their trauma. Except they were still using the same earth-based thinking that couldn’t make sense of what happened to them in the first place. This thinking wasn’t getting them to a healthy or peaceful place where they could love themselves and be in awe of their stories. People therefore believed they were broken because they couldn’t get over something. Something that in their bigger picture wasn’t meant to be “gotten over”. It was meant to be understood. And I knew that from my own lived experience, that when you unpack your experiences from your soul’s perspective, and when you get to see why they happened and what they’re teaching you, that you get to find a freedom and feeling of lightness that you didn’t know was possible from what happened. 


The Unpack Your Life with Mel session isn’t therapy that helps you process trauma.

This isn’t coaching that helps you move past it. This isn’t a healing modality that helps you release it. This is about unpacking the experiences you couldn’t make sense of, so they finally make sense to you. And when they make sense, you’re free to make the changes that you’ve felt weren’t possible til now.

The confusion lifts. The ‘not enough’ dissolves. The stuck-ness releases. And you stop feeling like something’s wrong with you and start seeing yourself with awe. 


Here’s what we actually do in a 90 minute online 1:1 Unpack Your Life with Mel session: 

1. We start with the experience you couldn’t make sense of.

What happened that left you confused, stuck, or searching for answers? What’s the thing you’ve been carrying that never quite resolved? What’s the pattern that keeps showing up that you can’t seem to break? We pull the threads from that experience to see what it’s really about. Not from blame or fault, but from curiosity and truth. 

2. We look at what you were trying to find and what you were trying to avoid.

Every experience that becomes trauma has a feeling we were chasing and a feeling we were running from. When we understand what those are, we start to see why this experience happened. Not from an earth perspective of “this shouldn’t have happened,” but from a soul perspective of “this is what I came here to learn.” 

3. We trace it back through your life story.

This experience isn’t isolated. It’s connected to your childhood, your family, your patterns, and your soul journey. We find the threads that link it all together so you can see the bigger picture of what your soul wanted you to learn and why this experience was part of that. When you see the pattern across your whole life, it stops feeling random and starts making sense. 

4. We unpack it from your soul’s perspective.

This is where the magic happens. When you see this experience through your soul’s eyes it finally makes sense. When you understand why you chose it, what it taught you, how it fits into your bigger story, you’ll feel why. When it makes sense and you feel why, it stops being trauma. It becomes wisdom. It becomes part of your journey that you can hold with compassion instead of shame. 

5. We introduce you to the ACE Way.

Awareness of what’s happening and what it means. Check-in for where it comes from, why it’s part of your story, what feeling you’re trying to find. Empowered choice about how you’re going to support yourself moving forward. This becomes your tool for unpacking any experience, so it can make sense to you instead of staying stuck as trauma. You learn how to do this for yourself, so you’re not dependent on anyone else to make sense of your life. 

6. We anchor you back to yourself.

You begin to learn how to connect with the 3 key parts of your earth-self – your inner child, your current self, and your higher self. These parts are what I call the capital Y in You. You learn how to listen to yourself, how to unpack your own experiences, how to make sense of your life in a way that honours your soul journey, instead of judging yourself from an earth perspective. You become the one who understands you, supports you, and is there for you. 


When you do this work

When you really unpack those experiences that you couldn’t make sense of from your soul’s perspective, you get something you’ve been searching for your whole life. Clarity. Not the kind of clarity that tells you what to do next, but that deep ah-ha kind that helps you understand why things happened the way they did. And from that understanding comes peace, trust and self-compassion. The ability to hold your story with awe comes instead of the feelings and thoughts of unworthiness and confusion.  

You stop…

  • carrying trauma as something broken in you,
  • trying to get over experiences that were never meant to be gotten over, and
  • feeling like you should be better by now.

You realise that those experiences that you couldn’t make sense of are exactly what your soul chose to help you learn in what you came here to learn. And when you see it that way, your life gets to change. 


The changes mean you…

  • stop waiting for life to magically get better for you,
  • stop trying to get the feelings you need from other people or achievements or perfect circumstances, and
  • you realise you can hold those feelings for yourself.

That…

  • you belong to you,
  • you’re here for a reason,
  • nothing is wrong with you,
  • you don’t need to be fixed.

You just needed the space to understand yourself. And when you understand yourself from your soul’s perspective, you are able support yourself through anything.  


Here’s the tough love part…

if you don’t unpack the experiences that didn’t make sense to you, they’ll stay as trauma. They’ll keep living in your body and keep shaping your patterns. They’ll keep you stuck in the same cycles you’ve been experiencing. You’ll keep trying to heal them, process them, get over them (take your pick per your pattern), but they won’t shift because you’re still trying to make sense of them from an earth perspective. And remember that the earth perspective can’t give you the answers you need.

  • feeling like something’s wrong with you because you can’t just move on,
  • carrying shame about experiences that weren’t your fault,
  • getting triggered by situations that remind you of what happened,
  • searching for answers in therapy, books, healing modalities (and still feel like something’s missing),
